Change the way you think, change your life
The mind is an amazing thing and it can be the key to all of our successes and joys in life or cause of all pain and agony. One of the most important concepts you can ever learn is that thoughts are things. I once heard a many say,"Be careful what you think about because thoughts become words, words become actions, actions become habit, habit become character and your character determiens your destiny." Control your thoughts, control your destiny.
So with all the things going on in the world your mind is your most valuable assest. I can either work for you or work against you. Here a few tips on how to get your mind working for you:
1. Write down a detailed description as you would love to see yourself as your best you ever. Included how you look pysically, your energy levels, your confidence levels, mood, etc.
2. Every morning spend a few minutes vizualizing yourself being your best self. This is no different that what athletes do in preparing for competition. The mind cannot tell the difference between something that actually happened and something imagined in great detail.
3. Make a list of affirmations to say every day. Affirmations are just statements about yourself as you'd like to be. They must be in pressent time and positve. Say these out loud everymorning and with enthousiasm.
4. Do 20 minutes of meditation daily. Meditation is about quieting the noise in your environment. You just need to find a comfortable place, close your eyes and just get present. Don't think about anything just clear your mind.
5. Avoid putting negitive information in your mind by doing things like watching the news or reading the paper. Instead try starting your day by reading from an inspiring book or listening to an inspiring or motivating audio CD in your care on the way to work.
Building a strong mental attitude and focus requires time and practice just like anything else, but it's time well spent. Waiting until you have a crises or major stress in your life to start working on your mental state is like trying to learn the basics of playing football in the middle of a game. It doen't work very well. If you invest some time everyday you'll be amazed at were you are in a year. Robin Sharma says in his book The Greatness Guide, "If you improve just 1% per day in 100 days you will have improved 100%." So what are you waiting for? If you want to change your life start by changing the way you think.
