Exercise is better than drugs for treating depression.
Duke University Landmark Study finds that exercise is more effect in treating depression than the antidepresnt drug Zoloft. This group divided 156 subjects into 3 groups: zoloft group, exercise group and a combination of the two group. The results? All three groups showed a significant drop in depression. Although all the groups had the same amount of improvement, exercise was found to work better over the long term. 30% of the exercise group remained depressed versus 52% of those on medication and 55% in the combined group.
NOTONLY DID EXERCISE WORK BETTER, EXERCISE ALONE SEEMS TO WORK BETTER THAN EXERCISE AND DRUGS!
There is literally thousands of studies showing the correlation of exercise and depression. The questions is, is exercise a good treatment for depression or is depression a result of a lack of exercise.
We are not designed to be depressed, being depressed is not normal. What we should be focusing on is just creating health and helping people be normal and part of expressing health is regular exercise.
Exercise is not a treatment for depression it is a requirement for health, so next time you're not feeling so hot ask your doctor if getting off your but is right for you.
