The Healing Equation
Have you ever taken the time to ponder what is actually required for you body to heal? There is a confusion I see on a daily basis with most of our new patients. Most people have been trained throughout their lives to ask the wrong questions regarding their health, most people have been trained to ask what's wrong with me and what drug do I need to take or what procedure do I need to do?
We work hard at teaching our patients to ask higher quality questions. We teach our patients to ask "What did I do to get myself here and what do I need to do to get myself better?"
So What exactly does it take to get well? It's all explained in the healing equations:
Healing = Adjustments + Habits + Exercise
Corrective Chiropractic adjustments are a critical part of healing. Chiropractors are not back or spine doctors, we are nerve doctors. Think of the spine as the body armor for the spinal cord and nervous system. The nervous system controls and regulates all the body systems and organs and the spine protects the nervous system. Chiropractors deliver specific chiropractic adjustment to restore normal motion and alignment to the spine to allow the nervous system to function properly. When the spine is working properly and the nervous system if free of any interference, the body will function properly.
One must identify what bad habits created their problems, in other words what did they do to create their current problem, and eliminate those bad habits. One must also start adapting good habits that will allow the body to heal.
Finally one must adapt spinal corrective exercises to strengthen the musculature that supports the spine. Just like you brush and floss your teeth on a daily basis you also need to do daily spinal hygiene.
So their you have it, the healing equation.
